Subaru Aux-in Install Kit
[SIK2005]
$58.00

I got my aux-in kit about 4 months ago, stripped the grounding screw on the side that held the grounding wire in contact with the mounting bracket, and this board has been riding around in my trunk ever since. The four screws holding the mounting brackets in place on each side of the radio are EXTREMELY difficult to get off, and strip very easily. I finally got some help today and got it installed.

If you can't get that grounding wire screw out to get the stereo out of the car, I recommend cutting the grounding wire, and attaching a new end later. Obviously it is a little easier to get those mounting bracket screws out when its on a workbench. I eventually did just that and drilled out the stripped grounding screw and replaced it with a new screw.

As a word of warning, don't try to do this solo. Make sure you have a second person to help(not your wife). It is nearly impossible to do alone unless you've done it a few times already. Once you get the stereo out of the car it isn't rocket science, but its tedious. I don't know about all the other suburu's, but at least for my car(2005 wrx) you are going to have to drill a hole in the back plate of your stereo to get the cable routed out. The back plate is a heat sink(think soft aluminum) and I easily carved out a notch with a file. Another piece of advice, attach the aux-in board to the underside of the cd player somehow. Do not use tape...it will melt in there over time. Think 10 years from now. I used a sticky tab and a zip tie.

Worked the first time I put it in. It works well once installed and I had no need for the GLI version of this kit. No noise, sounds great although its a little quiet. With the ipod turned all the way up and the stereo at 30, it still doesn't blast. Probably fine although it would be nice to not have to turn the ipod volume to max.
